Cinnamon Twirlies

These twirlies will have your child’s taste buds dancing.
They are too, too good!

Ingredients:

  • Soft whole-wheat tortillas
  • Diced apples, either fresh or microwaved until soft
  • Cinnamon
  • Reduced-fat cream cheese

Things You’ll Need

  • Gather these ingredients to make Zoe’s Cinnamon Twirlies.
  • If you’ve made these before and are looking for a new twist, try making strawberry, blueberry, or veggie twirlies instead!

Step 1: Top the Tortilla

  • Spread reduced-fat cream cheese on tortilla. Add apples and sprinkle some cinnamon on top.
  • Little Hands Tip: After you’ve spread out the cream cheese, let your child add the apples and cinnamon. Practice saying the word “cinnamon” together. Also, talk about the letter “c” and how it can be soft as in “cinnamon” or hard as in “cream.”

Step 2: Cinnamon Twirlies

Step 3: Top the Tortilla

Step 4: Roll with It

  • Roll up the tortilla tightly. Then cut it into 1 – 2 inch rounds. These will have a twirly, pinwheel shape.
  • Little Hands Tip: Your child can help roll up the tortilla. As he does, ask him about things that roll. What shape are they?

  • After you’ve gobbled up these tasty twirlies together, take your child for a spin. He’ll have plenty of energy for an impromptu twirly dance party!
